How addicting "newer" gaming consoles can be...

My oh my.. I told myself I wouldn't get back into gaming. I remember staying up late into the wee hours of the morning playing Call of Duty onXbox 360, even though I had to get up early for work.

I've always been a "gamer", from the good ol' days of the original NINTENDO, SEGA, SUPER NINTENDO, and the 1st PLAYSTATION. Believe it or not, I used to also draw crowds at the local arcade and bowling alleys, wherever there were arcades, I would be drawn to them. Ahh, those were the days..
See, back then, you could complete quests, objectives, missions, etc quickly or save the game and continue it at a later time. Nowadays, it isn't that simple. As far as I know, some games don't even allow you to pause in the middle of a gaming session. I can only speak for the PS4, but, if you were to press the PS button (can be considered like a start button), it will still take you back to the PlayStation home screen, but your game is still in session. So, if you were playing DESTINY and pressed the PS button, you'd go to the home screen, but your game will still be in session and then you'll die.

Pretty much all the games now allow you to interact with other players from around the world. That alone makes it a little more exciting, and you can even talk to them in real time while playing with them! Like today when I was playing, someone randomly messaged me asking if I could play with him! I guess its a way to meet people?? Could be good or bad I guess..

I don't recall if the old systems had "character building" I guess you can call it but these newer systems allow you to do so. And to "build" your character up, you have to play more. And more. And more! Hours at a time. Everyday. That's all you pretty much look forward to doing once you get home from work, school, or wherever you are! So, for DESTINY, the more you play, the stronger your character, armor, and weapons get! The more you play, the more better chance of getting higher weapons and armor, which is what everyone is trying to achieve. It definitely gets you hooked. It's what keeps me from blogging more!

If your child(ren) or "man-child" plays one of these newer systems, just leave them alone when they are playing!
